My School Magazine (Front cover and Contents page)

I was set a Task to create a draft magazine and contents page using my own images that would not be considered our real magazine but would be marked. The magazine could not have pictures of any one famous because our final magazine would be the same just a music magazine this on was a school magazine. This helped me when it come to creating my final magazine because I had more practice and therefore could make more chances to make my magazine look more professional. Considering the images I used and the fact it had to be on school life or things to do with school I think magazine is ok but could be improved and would be a lot better if it was things I had interest in or was excited and serious about.

Music Magazine Article Analysis 2

The target audience for this magazine article would be for adults about 27-late 30's possibly even early 20's. The images show that the genre is dance and that the article is about raving but if you look closer and read you understand that really the article is about recycling and saving the planet so just looking at the images of people partying and having a good time it gives you the idea that there trying to say you can party, have fun and still do a good thing which will help us all out in the long run. The language used in this article is mainly to interest you to read it like ''green clubbing'' ''RAVE THE PLANET'' their trying to make this article more appealing so more people read and get influenced into recycling and just doing their but to help. The colours in the article are mix and match dark background to make everything else stand like the images the writing is simple and white so its not to confusing because even though their making there point stand out they also want it to be heard and understood but its kept short and there are more images on the two page lay out then writing also a huge bright yellow smiley face with the recycling logo for eyes which stands out and help people understand what the article is about. The article is also knowledgeable and tells you some true facts about clubbing i think a main reason they are doing this and pointing out to clubs and people who like clubbing is because recycling has become more serous within the last year and they are trying to get every one from everywhere to take part and because a lot of young people go out clubbing so there trying to get them into recycling a if to say recycling should be for everyone whereas probably most 19-24 year old ain't really interested. Another reason i think they are pointing out to clubs and clubbers because how much energy they use and how little they are helping and for people who like clubbing and helping out. The images are presented to show that recycling and going green doesn't change the fact that you still have a wicked time.

Analysis Of A Music Magazine Article 1

The Choice of the artist the magazine chose doesn't really help with the target audience because he doesn't look like the type of artist most young teenagers would want to read about although you can tell by the picture and the writing the genre of the magazine is hip-hop i would say the target audience would be for older teenagers possible even young adults who are into hip hop, Rap and RnB for simple reasons if you read about what he is saying it makes it clear that he isnt like most other artist he seems more knowledgeable and more experienced and most people who are older would agree with what he is saying for example, ''its Frustrating seeing Rappers Talk About the Same S*** All The Time. There's So Much More To Talk About!'' most artist in the hip hop genre do only talk about certain things like money, whips, girls, etc. when really as shown by many great old school hip hop artist and even some new young hip hop artist great music doesn't have to be about the same thing and artist's get more credibility and become more legendary and well known for being unique and different from everyone else. That's Why he is not presented like other Artist would be because he is proving a point and showing as well as just saying he's opinion's, but mainly the reason he is not wearing eye catching jewellery or huge jackets with a cap almost covering is face is because what he is saying is more important then his image to the audience and therefore if he was dressed like other rappers no one would be to interested in what he has to say because they would see a man looking a lot like a rapper just getting his time to run his mouths about other rappers.
The Language used in this magazine is half and half he speaks slang to connect with the genre of this magazine which is hip hop but also he speaks very well because the magazine article is about difference and how people shouldn't fall into a sterotype like he is saying all rappers are. just because your a rapper or someone in that industry and talk slang don't mean you have not got good vocabulary and also because he wants to put his point across loud and clear.
The colours used in this article are plain and simple they don't really stand out and the two pages are not eye catching but the huge, bold, black title PURE GENUIS could make people want to read on. The lay out is again nice and simple one sides the interview and the other is a huge picture so it evens out well and it's not confusing.

The Evolution Of Britney Spears

1. I think the image has been cropped to show her sexier parts so she catches the audience’s eyes if her whole body was in the image the image wouldn’t stand out as much and this image stands out. The shot is to go with the writing on her ‘’inside the heart, mind & bedroom of a teen dream’’
It looks like she’s laying down all innocent she has a telly tubby to show how she’s still very young but she’s in her underwear to show she’s becoming a women.

2. Britney’s costume is appealing to everyone who fancy’s her mainly boys around the same age but also older men.

Two props are on the cover the telly tubby and the phone I think the telly tubby is on the cover like I said to show her innocence’s that even though she’s famous and on the cover of rolling stones and in lingerie she’s still a child, I think the phone is used for two reason one very similar to the telly tubby reason to show she is just like other teenage girls gossiping on the phone but also maybe they used the phone to maybe show us that were on the other end of the phone so that inside she will be telling us things about herself and he life and that also matches with the writing on her.

4. The setting is like she’s on a bed laying down hair and make-up on in a little bra and knickers set but also a cardigan on the phone and cuddling a teddy the reason for all of this is to show her growing up she’s becoming a women but she’s also similar to normal teenagers her age.

5. The colours used are sexy pink baby pink, black and the purple telly tubby.
Pink- colour loved my most girls baby pink and black underwear is cute it matches and the type of shot makes her look older but the cute bra and knickers makes her look sweet.

Again in this picture its really used to stand out her face and half naked body is the main image and it’s a close up also the shot makes her look naughty the other cover made her look innocent whereas this one makes her look like she’s now a women who’s finding herself and finding how she is as a women.

Her pose and costume is very flirty like she’s flirting with the readers to buy the magazine and her facial expression looks a little cheeky whereas her costume is just to make people but the magazine she’s half naked and the top half of her body is straight in the middle of the page so no one could miss it and that’s why I think she’s so revelling.
3. The lighting is used to make her look like she’s glowing and even though the back ground is white the writing’s dull and plain and her skin also looks tanned stands out the most.
4. The colours used in the photo are nice and they make Britney stand out because everything’s white and with the writing I think they used the colours they did not to blend in or really stand out because they wanted the image to be the biggest thing.





1. This image has been chosen to go with the text on Britney ‘’inside an American tragedy’’ she look likes something dramatic had happened to her and I think the black and white is great for trying to go with the text and show that which I think it does really well.
2. The image has been cropped just to show her face so they can get a sad/dramatic expression so we get the feeling that something really bad has happened to Britney and that makes us want to buy it.
3. Britney wants help the image makes it look like she’s lonely and like she don’t know what to do and like she needs support again the reason this makes the audience want to buy it is because we want to know what’s wrong with her either to care or to be nosey.

Kerrang Contents Page Analysis

By the images used on the contents page you can tell what type of music the magazine is about and the audience you can tell this magazine aint a hip hop mag. I would say the targeted audience for this magazine was for ages from about 14-19 and it would attract people who like rock music.

The colours used on the contents page are dull/plain black, white yellow some of the pictures stand out but some blend in. The colours do match the front cover of Kerrang again black white and red. On the front cover the fonts are very plain again but understandable and bold and in Capitals on the contents page most the writing is Capitals and understandable and some words are writing in BOLD but that’s to attract the readers into seeing who’s going to be inside the magazine, but for the contents page I find the fonts a little Boring.

The Information on the contents page is well organised they don’t have writing ever where about loads of different things they have a little box at the top of the page with a picture of the front cover telling you some interesting information about Kerrang and what’s inside. There are 9 little pictures all the same size apart from one and page numbers so again this is telling you what’s inside the magazine and this could attract a lot of people and I think they chose the biggest picture maybe because it’s a big story or because they know most of there audience will buy the magazine because of him another thing they have to attract Buyers is they have a text box going down the page with what’s in this week’s Issue.

There is one promotional feature on the contents page about delivering Kerrang magazine to you door I think this is to the regular buyers that but Kerrang magazines no matter who is on the cover or what that issue has to offer.

The Magazine logo is not placed anywhere on the contents page
But there is a little picture of the front cover and the promotional feature which lets you know that its Kerrang otherwise you wouldn’t really know what magazine the contents page go with.

The overall style and design of the contents page does go with the front cover but the contents page is a little plain but overall they use the same style similar fonts that are understandable and bold and the colours go together well.

NME Contents Page Analysis

By the text and images of this magazine you can tell it’s a music magazine and the targeted audience would be for 17-26 year olds there’s a lot going on in this contents page which normally attracts younger people because its more fun seems lively and is packed with loads of things inside to offer,
Most of the text is little and in black which don’t really stand out but the colours behind the text catches people’s eyes and then there are some big writing in different colours and I think that’s used to draw people in because that’s the first thing you notice.

There are a few pictures other then the main image of Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs and even though he’s image is the main image it still isn’t big and that’s again because they have a lot to offer and it gives you the impression that there a lot to offer that is equally as good or major, the little pictures on the right hand side are there to again attract people because when looking at a contents page not a lot of people would stand there and read the whole thing of what’s inside they see what stands out more and if they want to read about that are but the magazine about that and that’s what NME are doing there attracting people by making things they think will attract a lot of people stand out.

The colours on this contents page are different and I don’t think you would see a lot of contents pages like this also its hard to make it match with the front cover but in the bottom corner there’s an offer about buying NME magazine for just 20p an issue and they have 5 different covers and buy them pictures the NME magazine are different and have loads of colours which I think is good because they stand out from the rest who have natural plain colours.


There is also a promotional feature on the content page which I just wrote about buying NME magazine’s 20p an issue for 2 months this would attract normal buyers of NME who buy the magazine just because they like NME and because they like all the issues they do but also it would attract people who may not have every read NME and bought this issue and really liked it and its such a good offer which will make people appreciate NME and this gains more buyers who will continue buyer the magazine even for the offers.



The overall style off the magazine to me is original, fun, exciting, and colourful and basically mainly about music you get the idea that people who work at NME are all lovers of music and people like that who love music all types would also buy the magazine.
